Hi Everybody,
I have seen reference to "live" windows applications.
Where can I find out what this is all about. Does "live" have any
special meaning or is it simply a marketing term.

It's essentially nothing but a marketing term.

It's basically an MS marketing term referring to the online focus of a group
of applications. They are intended for use with online services provided
by MS.

The idea is that you can use them "anywhere", but the catch is that you
generally have to have a *live* internet connection to do so in a meaningful
way.

Incidentally, you may find that if you want to install an app such as
Windows Live Mail, you have to install Windows Live Messenger *first*,
otherwise the install fails with a somewhat misleading error message.

I don't know where you pulled that out of, but it's my guess that
there's no sunshine in there.

I don't have ANY version of MS/Live messenger on this machine OR on my
notebook, but I have Windows Live Mail on each one.

And a strategy. MS wants to evolve applications to an environment
where you pay to use them across the Internet.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks. I'm glad you pointed out the problem with installation.
