Live ID - please put an idea across

Hello new world,

living in my old programmer's home,

I wanted to participate on Microsoft Technet forums and
there was a question belonging my Windows Live Id.

What is this Id, in which way it change my internet life?

While trying to get such an Id, there was a question for
my mail address, which is a @hotmail.com . I use it since some years.
And I don't understand, that such an address is not possible to use.

I thought, hotmail and Live Id are closely related.

Because I cannot understand this circumstance, I stopped my
efforts to get such a Live ID.

Or is it possible, that I have already such an Id?

A Live ID is an e-mail address which allows access to Windows Live resources (and other
Microsoft-related sites) and is formerly known as a .NET Passport.

@hotmail accounts are already Live IDs, just sign in using your @hotmail.com address as the
Live ID and your Hotmail password as the password.
