Live Mail Backup

I've downloaded and installed 'Static Windows Live Mail Backup 2.9f Free
Version onto my laptop running Windows 7. Program is ideal as it saves
Contacts, Mail settings and Mail database and works fine.

I decided to move for Outlook Express on my desktop to Live Mail and had no
problems installing and copying everything across. All automatic and no
issues. My desktop runs Windows XP

However, installing live back up as indicated above, when this opens it
cannot find the Contacts file.

Help appreciated in resolving this issue

Static does not backup WLM's contacts..
Export to a csv file or copy the entire contacts folder (or use a Live ID)

Winston,

Thanks for reply. You state ..."Static does not backup WLM's
contacts.........".

Is this operating system dependant ?? As indicated, I have a laptop
running windows 7 and Live Mail. I've installed Static on this machine and
it works perfectly i.e. it detects Windows contacts (in my case 43KB
worth), Windows Live Mail Settings (17KB), and Windows Live Mail Database
(80MB).

Why does in work in Windows 7 and not Windows XP !?!

Winston,

Interesting !? if WLM doesn't use Windows Contacts what is Static backing
up when installed on Windows 7 based machine ?? because it is certainly
detecting something called "Windows Contacts"

Windows Contacts is present on Win7 for backward compatibility to
Vista(when upgrading a Vista unit to Win7, or allowing one to copy Windows
Contacts from an existing Vista PC to a new Win7 pc) to ensure that those
Windows Contacts can be imported into an email client installed on the
email client-less Windows 7. For Microsoft clients those installable email
clients would be Outlook and WLM....both of which can import Windows
Contacts(current Windows address book user)...and thereafter neither use
Windows Contacts(Outlook stores contacts in its *.pst file, WLM in
contacts.edb)
