'Download Windows Live Messenger 8.5.1302.1018 Free Trial - Connect and
share instantly on the world’s most popular IM network - Softpedia'

This is the MSI for 8.5. It will install on XP64.

I'm sorry, but I don't trust anything that does not orginally come from
Microsofts website.

It seems strange to me that Microsoft themselves does not have one listed on
there site. I have tried looking, but I figured that maybe I was looking in
the correct area of their site, hence the posting of this question.
However, I will not install anything microsoft unless it comes from
microsoft.

Greetings James,

Microsoft doesn't officially support Messenger on XP 64-bit or Windows Server (32 or 64-bit).

Additionally, Microsoft will not provide you the MSI directly. You can however, use another
machine which Messenger is supported on and extract the MSI from that.

However, what you may not be aware of is that Microsoft always digitally signs their
installers and executables. If you're not familiar with digital signatures, basically once
it is signed, if the file is changed even slightly, the signature will be broken. This
absolutely guarantees that the file you've obtained has come from Microsoft and has not been
modified.

Here is the link to my personally hosted version of the MSI, certified by me as being safe:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/wlm85.asp

But like I said, you don't have to believe me. Save it on to your Desktop, then right-click
it and choose Properties. Choose the Digital Signatures tab, click the signature in the list
and choose Details. You can see when it's signed, a validation that the signature has not
been broken and other details.
