live messenger and proxy settings

Hello,

Trying to resolve some issues with live messenger while using a proxy
server.

Siging in with the messenger gives an error code 0x80070190, the messenger
does not sign in. I have tried this from different workstations with
different versions of the live messenger (including the latest), all with
the same result. In a test situation without proxy the connection was
successfull.

The firewall logs show no errors, al connections initiated by messenger are
allowed.

Does anybody have seen this before? Please let me know, I've already tried
this via MSN Support and Live Support. Searching the internet everybody
advices not to use the proxy settings, so did msn support and live support.
The thing is, I need to use a proxy, and while the settings are there to
fill in it should be working, right?

The error seems to be a HTTP 400 result code while accessing the buddy list.
