I use Windows messenger a lot for remote assistance and now I have started
having a message that pops up every time someone asks me for remote
assistance that tells me that I need to update and it has a link of where to
go. I go there and it tells me I’m already updated. I continue over to the
Messenger web page and download a new latest and greatest copy of Messenger
and I commence to installing it. I try remote assistance again hmm what do
you know I get the same message. Now I have gone to the point of uninstalling
Messenger and going into the registry to uninstall it also. Then I came back
and reinstalled the latest and greatest copy and what do you know the same
message popped up telling me I needed to update.
Now, what do I need to do to fix this feature, because I really do need the
use of this tool? I have 3 sets of parents dependant on this feature.

Thank you,

Greetings,

It's asking you to install the latest Windows Messenger, not Windows Live Messenger. They're
separate products.

In order for Remote Assistance to work in Windows -Live- Messenger, Windows Messenger (the
other product) must be installed. So, yo need to install it from here:
