Live Messenger auto sign-in?

When I click on the Messenger icon in the Live Mail navigation pane, it
automatically signs me in. How can I turn this off? I thought I had disabled
auto sign-in in all of the places where I saw it. Kind of defeats the
purpose of disabling auto sign-in.

Greetings David,

I believe this is by design. If you're not signed into Messenger in any account and you
chose the Messenger button, it will sign you in using the credentials you've logged into Live
Mail under.

The auto-sign in option is for automatically signing you into Messenger when you start Live
Mail.

Additionally, if you completely remove your Live ID from being in Live Mail, the Messenger
icon doesn't even show up.

Thanks Jonathan, that clears it up quite nicely.

Hi David,

No problem. Just out of curiosity, do you actually agree with this design now, or do you
still think it shouldn't do this?

Jonathan,

The design is OK since I don't have WL Mail set to auto sign-in. I just
didn't realize it worked that way. This was my fault for not checking into
it more thoroughly.

One thing I would like to see changed is, when going to Newsgroups how it
always opens on a group instead of an account. However, this may also be
something that I am, or am not, doing.

Hi,

There is no phone number unless you are a paid MSN subscriber.

Contact Windows Live ID Sevices for assistance:
