Live Messenger Beta consuming lots of CPU

Hi all,

I've just installed the latest version of Live Messenger 2009 Beta (build
14.0.8050.1202). After the installation (and reboot), the msnmsgr.exe is
consuming approx 50% of my CPU (on core duo). I'm not sure if related, but
the SearchFilterHost.exe takes up the other 50%!!
Responses within the Messenger application are very bad.

I do see some updates of contacts coming in (slowly).

Anyone else experiences this and have found a solution?

Cheers
Ronald

Update:
I killed the msnmsgr.exe service that took 50% CPU.
Somehow the messenger application kept running, which leads me to believe
that this was a cloned service or so.
Things are working normal now!

Technically this build is a final or release candidate and not a beta.

Hi,

http://download.live.com.

Or http://messengergeek.spaces.live.com...DA1!1271.entry if you're
interested in installing the components manually.

Thank you Jonathan, why does http://download.live.com still define it as
"beta" and not as a final or release candidate? When is the "stabilised"
version due?

Hi,

I call it an RC because that's what it was known internally at Microsoft and the actual
applications themselves have lost their 'beta' monikers that were there before.

From an official standpoint, I've seen everything from "beta refresh" to just "release" on
various official Microsoft blogs, so RC is pretty good middle ground

I personally consider it a fully released version as it's up to that "release quality". In
fact given the quality of some of the releases in the past, it actually exceeds expectations.
