Live Messenger doesn;t sign-on at startup automatically

I installed Windows Live Messenger on a Vista system. It worked fine. I
have now upgraded to Windows 7. It still works fine.

With one exception:

When I boot the system, it starts up Windows Live Messenger OK, but does
not log me in. It just sits at the sign-on prompt, with my username and
password already completed. If I click sign-on it does it and it all works
OK.

I have the options boxes "Automatically run Windows Live Messenger when I
log on to Windows" and "Allow automatic sign in when connected to the
Internet" both ticked. This system has an always-on Internet connection.

This problem was there on Vista before I upgraded to 7, so is unlikely to
be a 7 issue.

How can I make it sign on automatically at startup?

Nick

At the lower right of the sign-in prompt there is a circle with a down
arrow on it. Do you have "Sign me on automatically" checked in there?

No I don't. Missed that one. I have now ticked it and we'll see what
happens on the next reboot.

Thanks Swifty,

Nick

I find that it goes away by itself. This normally happens when I start
using Pidgin whilst Live Messenger is connected. Pidgin "steals" the
connection, and WLM goes all huffy.

That's why I know about that option; I re-set it about once a week.

Basically, I type in my information, then click on the 3 books remember me, remember my password, and sign me in automatically. The thing is that it doesnt remember any of it and I have to do it all over again every time the messenger prompt comes up.

What am I doing wrong? Or, is there something wrong with messenger?
