v8.1.0178.00

Hi,

I have problems getting Live Messenger working with XP. I have just
reinstalled XP so it should be a clean installation. I have installed SP2,
ie7 and all updates. What is wierd is that Live messenger worked before I
installed sp2. The problem is that Messenger hangs after pressing the "singn
in" button. I had exactely the same problem before I reinstalled XP. To me it
looks like it could be a nettwork problem, maybe my Linksys router(with
tomato firmware).
With my old xp installation i could run Messenger 7.5 with no problem, but
8.1 did not work! I guess if I install 7.5 on my new XP installation it will
work fine.
Could enyone help me solve my problem, any suggestions??
btw, I also tried to install the beta of 8.5 on my old XP installation but
had exactly the same hang problem...

Hi Heitmann,

Do you have Active Adware protection on your computer, protecting you?
Windows Live Messenger has ADS. Make sure when you boot or reboot the
computer and WLM starts, that the main Window, does not open up!
