Live messenger keeps crashing my system

Hi,

Each time i use live messenger to speak with someone my PC crashes. If i
reamin offline there is no problem and if i make myself online still no
probs. But if i chat to someone then within a few minutes my PC will simply
turn off and i will recieve a serious recovery message when it restarts.

Is there something i can do??

I've re installed etc and that didn't help

Can u tell us a bit more info like which version of Windows are you using?

Hi,

Yes i'm using Windows XP and i've downloaded the new version of messenger
(ver 8). It only crashes if i have typed some conversation. just being
online, checking emails etc it is fine. But once i have exchanged some
messages it will crash within a minute or so. The PC simply goes dead in an
instant and then re boots with a message saying the system has recovered from
a serious fault, do i wish to error report etc.

Have you tried uninstalling messenger and reinstalling it?

Some people install the new version of messenger over the top of the old
version which sometimes causes problems. I take it the older version was ok
on your system but I am suprised that the system reboots. It is possible
that the problem could be something else other than messenger.

Hello,

I had the problem when I wanted to use Sharing Folders in WLM 8.0, but then
with 8.1, it worked fine and there was no Bluescreen or serious fault
anymore.
Could you turn off automatic restart, so you could see on the Bluescreen
what driver or file is causing the problem?
