Does anyone know how to minimize Windows Live Messenger IM client to the
system tray?

Doesn't the X in the upper right corner work? In Messenger that
minimizes the client instead of Exit, or you can do it by alt-F and
choose close. To exit right click the icon in the systray and choose exit.

I want the same as Kurdo.

I'd like to exit messenger without going to the system tray and closing it
from there.

Mine doesn't minimize to the tray with the close button - it just closes. Is
there an update I don't have, or a setting I need to change?

Using the X to minimize to tray does not work in Windows 7 build 7000.
Hope this will be changed in R1.

Hi,

This is Messenger's behavior, not Windows 7, as such RC1 won't change anything with this.

It is my understanding that the designed and intended behavior as per Win7 is the 'X' will
shut down an application, including Messenger, and everyone will just have retrain
themselves. Although one nice thing they could add is a confirm box when you hit the X, so
you don't shut it down accidently.

My Messenger (14.0.8064.206) with Windows 7 version 7000 still minimizes to
tray. Don't know why anyone else is having that problem. This is the first
I've heard of it.
