Ok, so I recently tried installing Windows Live Messenger.
Unfortunately, the install apparently caused a BSoD (bluescreen of death).
I was able to reboot, so I removed the program and rebooted again. No
problem, so I tried reinstalling the program. This time it all seemed to go
smoothly.
However, I can't get logged in; everytime I start WLM, I see two dialog
boxes appear and disappear (one after the other) very quickly in the center
of the screen, but I don't have time to read their contents. Then, when I
try to login, the program goes into its "attempting to connect" mode, but
never connects and never posts any errors.
This, of course made me suspicious, so I checked the event log and found
three items similar to the following occurred when WLM was started or tried
to login:
Detection of product '{CF5193F7-6B37-11D5-B7D2-00AA00A204F1}', feature
'feat.SystemPerm' failed during request for component
'{C50ED491-8358-4351-89DA-33E1EF15BE2A}'
Has anyone seen this? More importantly, does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks,
Valrith
