I just bought a JVC camcorder that has a DV connector. Live messenger does
see the camera but not the mic in the camera. MSN messenger sees the mic. Any
input from anyone out there would be helpful.

Greetings,

Which version of MSN Messenger are you referring to where this worked?

Thanks for responding.

it works on MSN Messenger version 4.7.3001. its the version I got with my
version of XP Pro when I bought this laptop. I downloaded Live messenger when
I bought a Logitech web cam and it works fine. Now i want to use the JVC
digital camcorder as my webcam but I run into this problem.

Like I said the camera portion works fine, live messenger sees it, but when
i go to the audio fine tuning wizard, the mic portion does not recognize the
camcorder mic.

This has got to be a live messenger fault, cause I can use the camcorder on
plain messenger and with windows movie maker.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Oh okay. That's not MSN Messenger, that's Windows Messenger 4.7. The audio/video libraries
used in Windows Live Messenger are different than what is used in Windows Messenger.

The camcorder setup is actually not officially supported actually.
