Hi all,

I have some users who aren't able to get on msn. For some reason its all the
HP users who have this issue, and only those who have XP installed.

We have recently blocked port 1863 to have around the same scenario as some
customers of us where we don't maintain their servers. And normally even when
blocking this port MSN Should go to port 80. Well in this case with the HP
portables with XP SP3 it doesn't switch. I've tried reinstalling, cheked if
there was a proxy or sock configured, checked the internet explorer
connection and proxy. Nothing is filled in that should prevent it from
connecting.

When i troubleshoot connection problems in MSN, everything shows good, but
when i try to connect it gives an error for MSN Messenger Service that is not
able to connect to it.

I've also checked our firewall and checked if UnPN is enabled in the
exceptions as if messenger program is listed in it. Even after disabling
dfirewall completly it didn't work.

Also antvirus has been disabled. Don't know if anyone else has ever got into
this problem. Unblocking port 1863 isn't an option as like i said, some of
the customers we go to have this port blocked. But with half our portables we
are still able to connect to MSN when we are at that customer. Just the poor
HP guys can't get any access.

I might have found a inbetween solutions. I changed the settings of HTTP
Checking from my NOD32 antvirus, and uncheked this option.

Now users can connect to MSN but with a delay. There might still be
something that slows this down.

Other computers with same NOD32 settings don't have this problem. But i'll
keep things updated if i find something more.
