Hi ppl,

I've been using windows live messenger chat on my websites since last year,
but since last week the buttons show me as offline and I am online. On web
settings page, the checkbox that allows everyone to see my presence is
checked.

I didn't find a solution. Could anyone help me please?

Thanks,

Lucila Kawai

My status icons are showing as offline today as well. Maybe its an outage,
but I have no idea where to submit an inquiry on this issue.

Just an update on my part...
It seems to only be affecting users that were already using the service. I
check the box to "Allow anyone on the web to see my presence and send me
messages" and refresh the page only for the checkbox to disappear.

I check the box for a new user that was not using the service and it stays
checked when I refresh the page. I move the coding to my site and it works
for the new user.

Maybe its a session problem with users that were currently connected when
some problem happened?

Hi Will,

I created a new account, checked the checkbox, refreshed the page and it not
worked.

On the settings page, if I check the checkbox, save it, create html, and
then click on the link above the page which says to active the messenger
status, the checkbox is unchecked!

I tried it using IE and firefox. Do you know what else can I do?

Thanks.

I wish I could help more but I do not think the problems is yours. It is
most likely a problem on Microsoft's Live service.

I am removing the links from my website for a time. I will replace them in
a few hours to see if this changes the problem.

I will continue to try different things and update if I find a solution.

Seems waiting it out was the only thing we could do.

Microsoft seems to have fixed the problem now. At least all of my users are
working again. *shrugs*

Hi,

Just to add, what you were describing has happened before (maybe 6-8 months ago).

....and fixed itself just the same.
