Greetings Eugene,
Do you happen to be using a router? If so, Messenger is probably waiting for a broadcast
message from your router and the router is waiting for a message from Messenger.
Good old deadlock.
Assuming this is the case, reset the router (aka unplug and plug back in) and if that doesn't
resolve it, try seeing if there's a firmware update for the router at the router
manufacturers website.
Failing that, as a workaround for the time being, you can use the updated version of MSN
Messenger 7.0.
