live messenger starts but will not load

When i start the pc, (windows XP) the process msnmsgr.exe starts. But never
fully loads. It is like something is holding it up. And when I try to start
it again it just starts anouther process of it. Then when shutting down. I
need to manually end the program for each time i have tried to start it.

Any suggestions would be great as I have tried repairing and uninstalling
and reloading it.

I am seeing exactly the same thing on Vista Business on a Asus R2H box.

The product loads, hangs and there are two msnmsgr.exe process sat in task
manager, with no CPU (00) against them..

Very annoying

I'm having the exact same problem. Two instances will be in the process
manager, even 3 or 4 but messenger never fully loads.

This is on a laptop when docked, when I undock it works properly. I've had
to go back to 7.5 but even that isn't working anymore.

It appears to be something with my firewall. Try this, it temporarily
worked for me but went back to not working.
Any suggestions would help.

Hey guys.. I just tried completely removing messenger with these instructions
and then re-installed the program after re-booting and everything is working
flawlessly. Hope it works for you:

OK, That worked but now it freezes directly as it loads and is unusable.
