Live OneCare and Vista SP1

Hi,

I uninstalled Vista SP1 for several reasons. Live OneCare keeps telling me
I need to "Install missing updates." Is there any way I can tell OneCare NOT
to alert me about the SP1 update?

Thanks, RickB

Open Windows Update, 'Check for Updates", Rightclick the SP1 update to
disable it.

Hi Mark,

thanks for the information. It successfully hides the update on the
"Windows Update" web page, but how do I get OneCare to turn from yellow to
green? I want OneCare to ignore it so I won't have to boot OneCare everyday
to see what the yellow warning says.

Thanks, Rick

Unfortunately, no. As long as OneCare sees a critical or important update on
Windows Update that you have not installed successfully, it will alert you.
Hiding the update wil not prevent OneCare's warning.

If you don't see a setting to turn it off, it would be something only the
OneCare developers could fix. I would try their feedback link.

Without getting into any arguments as to the effectiveness of Windows
Live One Care I decided against using it for one reason and one reason only.
I choose to download Windows Updates but make the decision myself whether or
not I wish to install any of the downloaded updates. Live One Care changes
to the alert color due to this decision and I don't particularly like
Microsoft telling me I am jeopardizing my security when in fact I am not.
If Microsoft would let me have the option of overriding this security
alert I would probably use Live One Care. I don't need a nanny.

I decided against it because I don't like paying for something that I
can easily replace with free items that work just as well.
