I have several pc's in a school with potential of 1500 students using them
for msn.
I'm trying to clean up the registry files, most of which i have written a
script to do this.
I have found that under the
HKU\%sid%\Software\Microsoft\MSMMessenger\PerPassp ortSettings
I have very many sub keys more than I would expect for just MSN use.
What are these extra keys and is it safe to remove all the sub keys under
this main key.
Failing this is there a way to work out what sub keys are associated with
users that have logged onto live MSN messenger.

Greetings,

Each key under what you've specified is a Messenger ID for each user who's logged in. For
instance, if you use this tool on my site:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/msngrid.aspx
type in your own address (or another if you want), and you can see the exact "Messenger ID"
that's generated.

Feel free to remove them -- they'll just be re-generated when that user signs in again.
