Okay heres some stats:

OS=Windows Vista
MSN Version=8.1

Problem Occured=2-20-07

I've had Windows Vista since February 5th per say; and when I sign into MSN
Messenger my handy dandy "Windows Live Today" pops up with 3 tabs; MSN Today,
MSNBC News and Mail. As of today the Mail Tab isnt functioning properly; I
get an error.

There was an error during sign-in.
Try again
If you are not using the most recent version of Messenger, please click
below to upgrade and get the most out of your Messenger experience.
Upgrade Now

But obviously I do have the latest version. I un installed, re installed.
Then I un installed, downloaded the latest version again, re installed and I
still get that same error.

Windows Live Messenger
Version 8.1 (Build 8.1.078.00)
Copyright 1997-2006

Anyways before today the Mail tab would show my inbox and what new mail I
got; but again the current message is "Error"

I even signed out, retyped my email/password and still yet, it gives an error.

I'm hoping it will clear up tomorrow but does anyone else know why this is
happening?

I've changed nothing in relation to firewall blah blah blah, Virus Scan, etc
within 24hrs. As I've said, its worked fine up until today, February 20th
2007.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Hi "ltolman"

What a coincidence, I recently posted on this subject as I have exactly the
same problem since a few days.
But in my system a couple of days but I am using XP Pro so I think the
trouble is with Windows Live Mail preview mail pane.

After minimizing WLM [which IS signed in] I open MSN Mail and all works
correctly.

What do you mean "remove windows desktop search". If you're talking about
that option during installation, I didnt accept; only the Windows Live Sign
In thingy (all in one thing)

Got a walkthrough on how to disable LOL

Thanks

I'm seeing the same 'There was an error during sign-in' message on the Today
screen. It's happening to many of my colleagues, and on my home computer too.

Upgrading doesn't help. There's definitely a problem.

Same Problem for me at home (Vista) and at work (XP Pro).

Nice of Microsoft to let us know what's going on, eh?

Hello All, did anyone manage to find out how to fix this "There was an error
during sign-in" problem?.

Or is it a case of waiting for a Microsoft update d'you think?
