Loading Printer drivers on Vista revisited

I recently purchased a new laptop (HPdv6600) which came with Vista ultimate
x64 loaded.

I use this in a home network with the main computer running xp pro. I have
two printers hooked to this desktop ( HP 722c and Epson R320). The laptop is
hooked into the network via wireless. It recognizes both printers on the
desktop but always tells me it can not locate the drivers and offers you a
search for them. Cannot locate anywhere in windows. Go to web site for HP
and Epson and they tell me the drivers are in windows already and offer no
download except for xp.

I could use some assistance locating the drivers or how to work around if
possible.

Thanks in Advance

Steve

I'm sure someone will help you on the networking aspect of getting the
printers recognized under VISTA 64. It's not an area I know about but I
think it may be necessary to give the laptop a path to the printers for
networking and it may be necessary to install the drivers on the
laptop.

I recently tried to help someone (not 64bit) who eventually found out
that the Gateway laptop he had bought did not in fact have the files on
it that contain the HP drivers for his G85 AIO (although they are on my
VISTA Ultimate on my desktop).

Having recently bought and set up a Compaq laptop for a family member I
was impressed by the built in Recovery Disc system about which the HP
website on your model says:

<< If the PC came equipped with Vista, you should create Vista Recovery
discs as soon as possible. In the event of a problem, you can recover
your Vista system to its initial condition. Registered owners may order
replacement Vista recovery discs. >>

I hope you have done this -- I think it took two DVDs to do this one
which was VISTA Home Premium. What is important if the VISTA 64bit that
you have is the same is that you will be well advised not to delete the
Recovery Disk partition after creating the disks since it can be used
for recovery, repair and to reinstall specific bundled applications or
to install drivers that you cannot do just from the created media.

So I made the set of recovery disks and I ordered the replacement ones
that HP offers since they are free with only about $12 for shipping and
handling if you choose US Post.

Hope that digression helps!
