Loads of spam in Cyrillic font

Folks,

In Windows-7 live mail, I'm getting loads of spam, and about 98% of it is in
Cyrillic font.
I went to Tools/Safety/International/Blocked Encoding List and selected all
fonts (including Cyrillic, of course) except European, Latin and American
ASCII, but it doesn't stop these mails.
There is a note that says "Only for POP/IMAP accounts. Mine is POP and
SMTP, so I guess I should be OK?
Am I doing something wrong? If I could get rid of this noise (AKA crap), it
would make the spam I get almost manageable.

Thanks,

MikeC

A message rule perhaps? Use a From, Subject or Message Body rule depending
where you see the characters. From or Subject will be the best because you
can delete it from the server.

Look for 8~10 common characters and Add them to the rule *one at a time*.
I have such a rule for news.

The POP/IMAP means that the incoming server has to be either POP or IMAP
(not HTTP). SMTP is outgoing and wouldn't apply to blocking.

What's supposed to happen is that the messages get downloaded but
automatically moved to the Junk folder. What level of filtering have
you set under Safety Options, Options?

are they all from the same domain? If so, set up a rule to block that
domain.

Like I said ....

selected all fonts (including Cyrillic, of course) except European,

You didn't answer my question. At Tools, Safety Options, Options, you
choose whether or not the Junk folder is even used as well as the level
of filtering. What do you have THERE.
