I want to set up a test network, with a local internal domain for testing.
something like testdomain.local or such, what is the best way to set up an
internal only test domain that has no internet connection? thanks!

Don't give it an internet connection? (that's my answer, but I'm not sure
I'm answering what you're wanting to ask.)

For testing, it's often appropriate to use a network isolated lan segment.
This helps to protect production or in-use computing assets while allowing
you to test appropriately. Preventing contact to the internet is a network
function often involving a firewall and such.

I'd be more inclined to allow Internet access but segregate from my
production LAN. Although truthfully, there's no issues with having multiple
forests on the same physical LANs. The only issues here is security. If
you're a little lax with AV and patching on the dev kit you might
inadvertently spread viruses into production.

well, technically, this is for disaster testing... so we can produce
scenerios on how to deal with it... so it really needs to be disconnected,
was just looking for anything that I should be aware of that could cause a
problem running a "disconnected" forest from the internal network and
internet...
