Hi - I have 2 questions.
Does anyone know how to configure Vista so that if a Remote Assistance
session end ths client being remotely controlled screen locks?

Secondly - do you know how to configure the remotely assisted Vista desktop
to automatically allow the remote controller UAC control? (the remote
controller user will be a member of the local admin group on the controlled
PC.)

Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to get around not having Remote Desktop on Vista Home?

No - its Vista Enterprise.
Corporate LAN environment.
Support group scenario, wanting to use built in Vista tools.
So the support team needs to be admin and support the user logged on.

I would create a logoff script for the user account used to remote in (in
gpedit.msc). It would run the screensaver with the option to lock (??.scr)
or just run the lock workstation command.

%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

Cheers Mark. will have a think about that...
Any ideas on the default UAC, prompts the remote user, the one to be
supported to tick that box each time you make a remote connection?

looking a replacement for VNC, as mentioned would like to utilise all the
built in capabilities in Vista....

No, Assistance by design requires an OK from the user. I think Remote
Desktop is about the only thing to do that.

From what you have said, it seems that you want to make a sort of
presentation, through the LAN?

Maybe you should try Microsoft SharedView.

Thanks for that.. I know where you are coming from, we use a product called
WebEx for this sort of thing... its very good too...

VNC on Vista isnt too good which is why I am asking for this... I need to be
able to support W2k, XP and Vista clients.
Other technet links have some good reasons why not to disable UAC when
remote assisting.

and you guys have given me some great ideas too.. Cheers.

Its a support/helpdesk environment, except we cant risk for the engineer to
be remotely controlling a user, that user wonders off and the engineer looses
or breaks the connection leaving the remote computer still accessible.....

You might want to try TeamViewer as well.
