"CLARENDON",
I am sorry you are running into this issue. Please check the following:
1. Right-click the background of your desktop, careful to avoid clicking on any
icons or the task bar.
2. Click Properties
3. In the Display Properties, click the Screen Saver tab
4. In the Screen Saver section underneath the picture of a monitor, is the Wait
field set to an amount that seems wrong to you?
5. Is the "On resume, password protect" checkbox checked? Please uncheck this
if you do not wish this behavior, but be WARNED: This will leave your computer
open to access by anyone walking by it while it is powered on. They will not
need a password after you have logged in for the first time of the day, if you
have not locked it.
Let me know how this works out for you.
Sincerely,
Pat Walters [MSFT]
