I searched the news threads and didn't find this error reference. When I try
to run v5 Windows Update, I get the following message:Windows Update has
encountered an error and cannot display the requested page. I have turned off
antivirus and popup blockers.

The windowsupdate log's last entries are listed below:

David,
Not certain that this is the answer, but to use automatic updating at the v5
site you must turn on the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service". To do
that: Start/Run/type "services.msc" [less quotes] and click "OK". When the
window opens up, scroll to that and if not already "Started" and set to
"Automatic"; right click it and select "Properties" then set it to
"Automatic" and "Start" it to running. When you do that, be sure to click
"Apply" [at the bottom of the Window] and then "OK".

Thanks Gene, but that didn't do it. Background Intelligent Transfer Service
was already running...any other ideas?

Marc,
Registering msxml3.dll is done by running "regsvr32 msxml3.dll" from
command line as David outlined in the four step fix.

I tried the following:

Registering the MSXML3.dll at the run prompt. It succeeded in registering
the aforementioned DLL file. Additionally, I shut down Norton Antivirus and
even when as far as uninstalling the pop up software. Despite these efforts,
I still get the same error. Any suggestions?

Thanks
