Log on at startup?

Have Vista Home Premium as my OS; I have it set to Hibernate when the Sleep
button is pressed, but recently it "wakes up" after going into hibernation
seconds or minutes after hibernating, and when it comes on it opens to a
logon screen. It also has an option to switch accounts. I am the only user,
and the only account (other than the mysterious ASP.NET and Guest), and if I
select "switch" it goes to my account anyway. Is there a way to get Vista to:

a. Not wake up after hibernating until I wake it, and
b. Not open to a logon screen but go directly to the desktop?

Any help appreciated; thanks

Doc H.

Please see the following article, offers some helpful workarounds for
problems associated with Sleep and Standby on Windows XP and Vista:
Fixes for Windows standby and sleep problems

Right click Desktop > click Personalize > Screensavers > and make sure that
'On resume, password protect' is not checked > click OK.

Hi Doc H.,

This tutorial will show you how to disable the "Password Protection" on
wakup and keep you from going to the logon screen.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/10...on-wakeup.html

This tutorial should help find out what is waking your computer from
hibernation. I would check step 4 and 5 to see if it may be your network
device.

Hope this helps you,
Shawn

Thanks for replies and links all; hasn't had any effect that I can tell.
Still wakes up to a logon button. I've turned off UAC, turned off any
passwords, turned off "wakeup" features in mice, network adapters, et al.
Vista doesn't require a password when I click the logon button - it just
won't bypass the button. And system still appears to wake up spontaneously,
randomly. Frustrating, but not fatal. Vista is definitely underdone, IMHO,
and needs about another year of cooking before "going gold." I am thinking
of another favorite MS developer expression for software, "shoot in the
head..." <sigh>

Doc H.,

You might try using the normal Sleep instead of Hibernate. There has
been many reports of Hibernate not working properly in Vista.

The link was wrong on the 2nd part for step 4 and 5. Sorry, here it is:
