This feature was removed around the 2003 timeframe. There are actually two versions of
Windows Messenger surviving that still allow this functionality and are still allowed to
login, however you cannot download them directly from Microsoft any more.
I highly suggest that you install and use Windows Live Messenger instead
(
http://get.live.com/messenger/config) which will give you this support back. Also, I think
you'll find as your contacts upgrade in the near future, support for the old Windows
Messenger file transfers (and other features) within the newer versions will be removed, so
you will be forced to switch at some point anyway.
