Logging in problems

I've added my hotmail account using the automatic configuration and when I
try to send/receive on that account, log in boxes pop up. Even though I enter
my password correctly the box continues to pop up, as if i have enetered it
wrongly (but I havn't). Both my user name and password are valid and work
when accessing through the web.
The error message is as follows:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail account. The sign-in name
you entered doesn't exist, or your password is incorrect.

Server Error: 0x80048823
Server: 'http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80048823

Does WLM sign on with the problem Hotmail address when first opened ?
If no, once WLM is opened, upper right, click on Windows Live sign-in, enter
full and password, click remember password.

Then check if the email account is using the full hotmail address

- Tools/Accounts/<select your email account>/Properties/Server tab

I am having the same problem with my Yahoo email. I can get onto my MSN
account, but when I try to get onto Yahoo I am getting the same message about
an incorrect password.

Are you sure your Yahoo account has POP access?

I am having the same problem, it is very frustrating.

0x80048823 means PPCRL_REQUEST_E_PASSWORD_LOCKED_OUT.

It’s likely that someone has tried to guess your password too many times and
caused you to be locked out.

Can you log into the hotmail web-ui (www.hotmail.com) using the same
username and password? Can you try logging into passport.com, and changing
your password?

I created this email address last night that I am trying to add to my windows
live acct, I can check my email on the web but can not add it to the windows
live mail, I get that error message every time I try to add it to windows
live.

I have no problems checking my email on the web, but the purpose of windows
live mail was to be able to check multiple email accts in one place.

This is very frustrating to me that I can not add this new acct.

I do not get an error code when going to the web to check my email.

I only get an error when trying to add the new email acct to windows live
mail.

Yeah apparently the default settings are f*cked in the Windows Live Mail
program for the windows live mail account. This is how i got it to work:

1. Click Add Email Account
2. Type in your email address () and your password.
3. Select the check box to "Manually configure server settings for e-mail
account." Click Next
4. Fill in following values:
-Incoming Server: pop3.live.com
-CHECK This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
-Enter your FULL email address for your Login ID
-Outgoing Server: smtp.live.com
-CHECK This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
-CHECK My outgoing server requires authentication
5. Click Next.
6. Click Finnish
7. Enjoy the intended use of the Windows Live Mail program :P
