Hi there

I was on my laptop and it crashed showing the blue screen, I thought
nothing off it at first as this has happened before, but when it came
back on the where the logon screen should load it didnt. All i get now
is a quick flicket of the blue loading circle and the screen stays black
with just the cursour. Am not really sure how to fix it.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

Have you tried restarting your computer and pressing the F8 button
repeatedly after pushing the power button on your computer? After
pressing F8 repeatedly on restart, you should see a lot of options such
as safe mode, last known good configuration etc. which may help your
computer to start back up again. This happened with my laptop a few
months ago. Try that and let me know if you need further instructions
etc. Or,someone with more knowledge can help you also-I'm still
learning, but I do know that pressing F8 on startup is the first thing
you should do when your computer fails to startup.

After that, you can access all the recovery options, safe mode, last known
configuration etc. I think you have to click on the highlighted "Repair
Your Computer" to access the recovery options such as system
restore,last known good configuration etc.

Also,if your computer is still in warranty, you could try calling the
manufacturer of your computer and they should guide you through what you
need to do.

Good Luck!

Thanks

Have tried all of the F8 options and had no luck, it even does the same
in safe mode. A similar thing like this has happened to me before but I
somehow managed to get around it but now I just cant get around this
one.

I got this one second hand but it is still quite new so will look into
the warranty.

hi glen,

This is almost always caused by a graphic card error, check these
symptoms

1) Bios posts normaly, can read text up to the point of Windows loading
screen.

2) system ether auto reboots or generic BSOD on windows load.

3) same symptoms when attemp to use Safe Mode

4) If dual boot system, same symptoms on all os attempting to load.

If all of these are true, you most likly have a graphic hardware
proplem. Your card is working in the VGA mode but errors when trying to
switch to graphics. It could be as simple as overheating, often caused
by a cooling fan failure, or blocking the air vent. Also a corrupt
driver will cause simular symptoms but this type of error is usuly OS
dependent and can be corrected in the Safe Mode. Sence it is a laptop,
isolating and correcting individual componets may be difficult.
Also dont rule out a memory error, try the memory test option on
bootup. But sometimes the test will pass and still have problems. If you
dont have the memory test boot option installed you can run it from the
Vista Boot CD. You can try to remove one stick of memory and try booting
again, failing that remove the other one and replace with the first one
to check both individualy. hope that helped, good luck
