I haven't had any troubles today. If you're seeing Key Ports has the issue in the
troubleshooter, this means that Messenger hasn't been able to connect on port 80 or 1863 and
443 (all TCP) to connect to the service.
This can be caused by connectivity issues at your internet service provider, a software
firewall blocking outgoing connections, a proxy server (if you're in a situation that needs
one), etc.
However, since you mention you're also having issues with Hotmail, it sounds more like a
internet connectivity problem, especially if it just started today.
