Hi, After clicking on Windows Live icon, supposedly the login window should
appear but in my case it doesn't. This has happened b4..so i uninstalled it
and used 7.5 instead. But yesterday i was being prompt that i have to update
b4 i can sign in..This morning it was still working. But after a reboot of my
pc, it stopped working again and when i click on the icon, the login window
doesn't appear again. Anyone else having this problem too ? Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Carolina,

Can you please provide more details? Where is the Windows Live icon that you
are clicking on? Is it on the task bar? Does it pop a menu instead of the
login window?

Thanks,

Its the icon on my desktop. The one when u installed windows Live, a shortcut
icon will appear on ur desktop. I clicked on that icon. and nothing came out
after clicking it. Not even a menu.

Greetings Carolina,

Are you using a router on your network? If so, some routers cause the problem you're
describing.

Hi,

As I was saying, the first thing is to try to unplug the router's power plug and then plug it
back in. If that doesn't work, look on the router manufacturer's website to see if there is
a firmware update available for your router. If there is, install it on the router, reboot
the PC and then try again.

Hi Carolina,

Can you please do the following:

1. Open the Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + DEL and then 'stat task manager') and
check if you see manmsgr.exe in that list. If it is there then right click on
it and click 'end process'.
2. Use the Start Menu and use that to launch Messenger.
3. If that works, then right click on the icon on the desktop and click
Properties. See if the icon is actually pointing to the correct exe.

Thanks,
AA - MSFT

Hi,

AA made a mistake, they mean msnmsgr.exe. If it's not showing, then it's not the router
issue as I mentioned because that'll just deadlock the process and it'll continue running.
