When I try to drag a shortcut to the Start Menu from the Taskbar, maybe it
moves &maybe it doesnt (tried holding down CTRL button) it is not consistent,
and when it does move, if i then delete the Taskbar shortcut, the Start Menu
shortcut wont work & i get this window: "the item this shortcut refers to has
been moved or changed"; so i have to restore the Taskbar shortcut. This is
driving me crazy. Will someone tell what i am doing wrong. Also the Vista &
Office07 logo's already set in the Start Menu have changed from their
original icons.
Using Vista Home Premium with Windows Aero as Color Scheme under Appearance
Settings.

Hi Kim

A shortcut is tied to item it was created or copied from. It is bes
to create a shortcut directly from the program's EXE file since it doe
not get moved or deleted

You can rebuild the Icon cache to reset the Office shortcut icons.
This will show you how

Thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned that I am trying to create
shortcuts to web pages. First I create a shortcut to desktop directly from
the web page, then drag it into the taskbar for immediate access or into the
Start Menu for '1-click away' access. When I delete the original shortcut
(with an arrow in it) from my desktop then the taskbar or Start Menu shortcut
doesn't work.

Hi Kim,

You might find this method helpful for creating a IE7 webpage shortcut.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/10...-shortcut.html

It is best to create a shortcut from the main file itself, not from
another shortcut. When the file that the shortcut was created from is
moved or deleted, the shortcut will no longer work because it lost it's
association to the file it was directly created from.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

uninterrupted time. I am customizing a new computer for maximum efficiency; I
have much to learn.
