Hello, this is my first post here. This forum is nice!

Anyway, i have a Motherboard Asus P5KC with integrated audio (Realtek)
- Vista Home Premium. So last night i connected my bass to the mic input
but i believe the signal was too strong because the sound was clipping
bad. So when i played a little harder, suddenly the pc started to make a
continuous beep sound. Anyway, i figured that out, for some reason the
PC Beep option was all the way up! (Right Click on the Realtek icon on
the taskbar -> Sound -> Speakers -> Properties -> Levels -> PC Beep). So
i turned PC beep to 0 and then hit the mute icon next to the bar as
well. So that took care of the constant beeping. However, i get a loud
continuous beep (same pitch) that lasts around 6 seconds everytime i
start my pc. The beep occurs at the end of the hourglass screen, just
before it plays the Windows Startup sound. It is really annoying and
loud. I have tried everything. Uninstall the realtek drivers from device
manager and programs. Then reinstall them. Also i have tried disabling
the audio device from the bios then uninstalling drivers, then
re-enabling it and reinstalling drivers but nothing. I have also tried
to turn off the beep from regedit (i saw it in another thread) and i
have also tried to stop the beep from the device manager -> show hidden
devices -> non Plug n play devices -> Beep -> Startup = disabled. But
nothing worked. And it is driving me crazy! Could it be that my sound
circuit now has a problem or is it something fixable? Please i need your
help.

Take a look at these codes

http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml

You just might have an issue with your motherboard.

Oh, i forgot to mention, everything works fine though, i mean all sounds
are played the way they were meant to. Only that beep is wrong.
Everything else works fine.

Try removing the battery from the motherboard for a few minutes, resetting
it.

You might have to reset your clock.

I would write down your CMOS settings in case they are not all the default,

Bob

For those out here (not using that web-interface) and who don't have a
photographic memory, would you please hit the quote button before
replying?
