There are many people who deserve my acknowledgement for a long term
problem solve. It is about the KB828026 update patch from Microsoft.
There were many ideas (ie. change registry - ewe that would be my last
resort, more on that later- , disable antivirus, hot fix, and on.) I
tried many things like the hot fix, I reinstalled the OS several times,
even disabled my firewall and my antivirus - believe me that was
scary-, and just recently I rolled back on system restore to go back
and install each update sepately - it was tiring - So I installed WMP9
than installed the two patches seperately, and even rebootd after each
update, than after more study, I learned that I was suppose to install
the two patches in the other sequence. I followed a scary advice to
delete the WMP.DLL than reinstall the player, it went against all
advice I was given in the past, but I relied on my trusty System
Restore - a tool used in windows ME, and maybe in other OS's- to save
me if I goofed.
To simplified I did the following
1. I deleted the WMP.DLL.
2. I reinstalled WMP9, by simply opening WMP and going through it's
walk through.
3. I applied the KB828026 patch first
4. I checked to see if the problem reproduced, than applied the other
patch.
Now I believe the problem is solved and will confirm at a later time.

reproduced the link wrong.
Others of you deserve credit as well - who I cannot acknowledge at the
time -, because to my knowledge you don't get paid and you seem to
love to help people.
