and then???
nothing!
i have seen a hundred posts from a thousand people about having this same
problem, and as of yet, no one has received a valid permenent solution to the
problem! isn't there anyone out there that can remedy the situation? my i.e.
browser keeps shutting down b/c it says i need updates, however, i have tried
updating i.e, and i am already using the current version, and the i.e.
patches didn't work either, tried updating the scripts (no change, but thank
you, sky king), updating my registry (nada), configuring and reconfiguring
auto updates (still nothing), nothing in the w.u. knowledgebase for xp is
applicable (thank you anyway, ivee), and i have tried putting the "s" in
after http, have never had the 'zone alarm" program installed on my computer,
there is no "error code", i have other computers on my network running the
same os (xp) that don't have this problem so i don't think its the networking
or the firewall, there is no other mssg, as listed in torgeir bakken's
suggestions on 10/21 (again, thanks anyway).
if fact the only inconsistancy i have found, that i just found, is a missing
driver, regsvr32.exe uwapi.dll (thank you connflash). i suspect that this is
at the core of my problem, if not anyone else's. but where did it go? why is
it gone? is it a side effect of overkill on bad information and the numerous
attempts made previously to fix the problem? how do i fix it? will someone
please stop my head from spinning?!?!
thank you in advance for your assistance, and for (hopefully) for saving the
last shreds of my sanity!
if you need more information, don't hesitate to ask, i am not by any means a
programmer, techie, or any kind of computer expert, but i'm not a total
retard, either.
