losing icon images

I keep chaning my icon images, they stay a short time before they revert
back to the standard Internet E in a white box.

What is my problem, I have looked at every thing.

By the way it is not happening with all Icons - just the ones I have placed
on the desktop from My Favorites??

Right click the icon, choose the General tab, make it read-only.
Works for me for the icons on the IE links bar, maybe it will work on
the desktop too.

Do they change back when you reboot?

What is happening:

I change the image to what I want. However, another image appears when I
accept it.
I change to another and different image and it accepts the image
When I click on the Icon, open the URL and then close it, it reverts back to
the Internet E image with a White background?

Re-booting does not change it back, when I have the Internet E image??

I am having the same problem. I solved it once by changing the desktop
resolution, but some update changed them all again. It's very frustrating.
I found the comments in this post to be useless, by the way....blind leading
blind...but maybe that's the issue with Vista.
