Losing Time and Vista Ultimate

There are a number of us with new Dells and Vista that are losing 4 or 5
min. per day and even more.. There are a number of us that had XP on their
machines that kept perfect time until they downgraded to Vista and now have
the same problem. Are others out there having this problem? I seem to find
only those that have the problem that the time update don't work but not
this one.

Try using a different NTP server on the Internet Time tab. Use one that is
geographically close to you and does not give you errors due to long ping
times or too many users. The default ones supplied by Microsoft often do
not work as there are millions of computers accessing them.

This is not my problem. Mine is I lose time up to at least 4 min. per day.
I have no problem updating it is that mine and many other new DElls running
Vista are losing many min. per day. Some of them ran XP which they claim
kept perfect time and just switched to Vista or dual booted to Vista and are
NOW losing time.

Dell has had problems with keeping accurate system time since they released
their computers for Windows XP (how quickly people forget). Other
manufacturers do not have this problem. Call Dell for a fix.

David;
If this happens with Dell computers, what has Dell said when you asked
them?

In the past some installed programs caused this type of issue.
Since you notice this is common with Dell, what preinstalled software
do those Dell have in common?
Perhaps the preinstalled security suite?

Why buy a new Dell with windows Vista and then switch to Windows XP?
Dell, Toshiba and possibly other major OEMs as well as nearly
countless local shops continue to sell computers with Windows XP.
From your description, it almost seems like you "downgraded" to Dell.
