I posted this question a while ago, but didnt get any response. here it is
again ( I am kinda desperate now), before I take my copmuter to service, Id
like to know if someone had a similar problem . Or a solution.
Recently I installed Logitech caemra on my computer. After connecting it I
lost audio . No sound in my speakers, not even in headphones. I uninstalled
my camera, but it didnt help at all, there is no way I could get the sound
back. There didn't seem to be any error with an installation. I dont think my
audio driver was corrupted......
Is it just a coincidence or did installation caused this problem. How can I
get my sound back?
Thanks!

I doubt that it is a coincidence. Did you reinstall the drivers or delete
them in Device Manager and reboot? That would cause Windows to try to
install the drivers again.

Ok... I am not a computer wise, so how do I do that?

Type "device manager" in the Start/Search box and hit Enter. When prompted
for permissions, click Continue or enter the admin password, whichever you
are prompted for. Down near the bottom of the DM screen you will see
"Sound, video and game controllers." Click the "+" to expand the listing.
Right click on the driver and select "uninstall." Check the box "Delete the
driver...." and click OK. Exit the DM and reboot. On restart Vista will
ask if you want it to search for a driver. Let it. Report back your
result.

You can try Back up & Restore to restore your computer

There is an earlier thread in which the poster got sound back after
uninstalling the webcam but could not get both to work. It appears that
some value webcams are not such a bargain after all.

I worked. I re-installed the driver, I got my sound back. I have not
installed my camera yet, but it iwas probably the reason I lost my audio. I
see Fiona had the same problem..........
Thanks for the advice Colin, its a relief to have audio back.

too and lost audio after installing it. I did what Colin adviced me to do, in
an earlier post. Got my sound back.
