it was working 3 days ago.. i updated my windows and now.. it has disabled
my virusscan and my computer keeps blacking out and cutting off by itself.

its highly irritating and has really ****ed me off.

I just had this happen to me in the last few days... I lost use of my DVD
writer and CD-ROM drives

In device manager - the drives are installed and recognized, but the the
device status reads "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.
THe driver may be corrupted or missing. (code 39)"

I followed the troubleshooting suggustions 1) Uninstall/Reinstall the
devices 2) I signed in as administratorand went to windows update... and this
is where it sent me.

Has anyone figured this out? I see that this thread stopped at 1/13/05...

Thanks.

Thanks Patti,

I'd kept searching the forum and found the same info posted in another thread.

The good news is that it worked and my drives are back up and running.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me out... its nice to have a
place where I can get good info.

Thanks again,
Rich

And before someone who may happen upon this thread comments on the date of
my postings, yes, I was checking something using the Date/Time Settings
calendar late last night (early this morning <g>) and inadvertently changed
the date. I have since corrected it.

Patti
Me again, I didn't read the instructions correctly I kept trying to delete
the folder but suddenly saw the file to the right and was able to delete the
upper and lower files, I will let you know if this works for me.
Thanks
