i have a laptop with vista home basic installed, i recently bought a 1tb
buffalo HD-CEU2 external hardrive, i simply plugged it in and started
transfering a large number of files to it without running the
installation software that came with it, i also didnt convert it from
fat32 to ntfs, after a week all the fies in one of the folders
disappeared and it said it now registered 0 bites, when there was a
about 1gb of stuff in there, the file wouldnt delete, but coud be
renamed, later scandisk deleted it, about 3 weeks ago all the fies on
the drive disappeared, the drive read empty except for a file listed as
a EU2 file named after the drive, but the drive still read as been 800gb
ie the almost 200gb of files were still in there somewhere, i ran the
installation software that came with the drive and during the
installation converted it to ntfs and once completed all the files came
back, then 2 weeks ago it stopped alowing me to enter the drive by doube
clicking on the icon on the desktop or going through my computer, it
woud open if you right clicked and chose explore, then on sunday
afternoon it happened again all the file disappeared replaced by the
singe EU2 file, but the drive still says almost 200gb has been used, now
though it will alow me to access by doube cicking on the icon, also the
drive has renamed itsef as Local Disk E: when previously it was listed
as HD-CEU2 everywhere, it also says it is now fat32 again, also
previously when you tried to safey remove hardware, it wouldnt let you
saying the device was still in use, but now it alows you to safely
remove it, pleas tell me how to get bak these files i do have some of
them backed up, but not all, it would be horrible if i couldnt recover
them please help.
