any one know what this is about?

when i click to searh for updates i get this message :

Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered or installed
on your computer. To continue:

Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended)
Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the problem

when i register/reinstall nothing happens and theres nothing in help.

hope you can help .

Make sure your account is an "admin" account and try creating a new admin
account and then doing windows update again. Sometimes spyware corrupts user
accounts and foils WinUpdates.

Im not sure besdies that...ill think

I use MS anti-spyware...why, because it active guarding like spybots tea
timer...but more because it has scheduled scanning...if I think the machine
still has spyware i will use TrendMicro's Online spyware scan which
surprisingly ALWAYS finds spyware that MS anti-sw, ad-aware, and spybot did
not.

I strongly stay away from all NORTON products except symantec anti-virus
"corporate edition"

NORTON loves hogging all your system resources...which is a DoS in itself...

for personal firewall/antivirus/antispyware sometimes i use
Fsecure 6 corporate. Low system overhead. Good Product with Security News.
