Lost Internet connection after critical updates downloaded

After downloading updates for ME, I rebooted my computer and now I don't have
an internet connection. My PC goes through a Linksys router then through
Bellsouth DSL 2Wire home portal. I tried winipcfg/release_all then
winipcfg/renew_all. I get a error message: "DHCP Server Unavailable:
Renewing adapter "" Tried to go to yesterdays restore point. Didn't fix.
Undid the system restore point and back to where I was before.
Anybody has a suggestion to where to go for the fix?

Found my answer at MajorGeeks.com
Internet Properties, Conections, LAN Settings, then unchecked "Use a proxy
server..."
Then went to Start, Run, typed the word "command" then winipcfg/release_all.
Then, typed in winipcfg/renew_all
Connection was back!!!!!!
