I had to do a full reinstall of Vista Business.... working better now
(Slightly). I have a Windows old directory on my hard disk now. Can anyone
tell me where the sidebar notes data is stored so I can copy it to the
running version and get my data back? (Yes I know I should of backed it up !)

Thanks

Previously posted by Jane C MVP:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Settings.ini will
contain the text entered in the Notes.

However, I don't think it retains the information if you either delete the
note page or close out the note gadget.

Sorry but I don't have an AppData folder in my Users/John directory... either
in my current working version or my Windows.old directory.

I can find the settings.ini file in C:\Windows.old\Program Files\Windows
Sidebar\ but there is nothing in it !

Anybody any other ideas?

The AppData folder is usually hidden. Simply type the path (substitute "YOURNAME" with the actual user account name) supplied by Andre in Start - Search box and press ENTER, in order to go to that folder directly.
