Lost my XP Prof ID#

I had to have my XP Prof uninstalled & reinstalled (along with everything
else) after being infected with several trojans, etc. The company I had do
the work didn't write down my ID# & in moving prior to this, I lost my
booklet w/ID# and now cannot download Service Pack 2 upgrade. They searched
my hard drive & cannot locate this#. What can I do besides purchasing
another copy? Urgently need help.

You do not need to enter a Product Key to install SP-2.
Exactly what happens and what is the exact message?

Otherwise if Windows XP is retail:

If Windows XP is OEM contact the seller, Microsoft may not be able to
help with OEM.
