got hit with the 'Antispyware 2009'. deleted the 'programfiles\...'.

but still Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, and a couple other things
won't launch; give 'Can't find or Not have Permission' error.

any thoughts? Yes, I tried 'Run as Admin.'

Set is semi OK. No Antispyware popups, or running tasks, but still
suspect some traces.

thanx

Try this...
http://www.xp-vista.com/spyware-remo...spywarexp-2009

If you still can't get some stuff to launch, consider re-installing from
scratch..

BTDT. very little of that stuff wuz there. only the pgmfiles\msanti....

Reinstall too catastrophic to contemplate..

i will buck up to XP if that becomes necessary. Wish the License was
good for doing that...

I have no idea what 90% of that post means. I did understand the "reinstall
too catastrophic..." but if you have backups, what's the big deal? A few
hours' worth of work.

You still have a lot more work to do. Of course, your system could be so
badly hosed that a clean install is the only way to go.

Standard answer for rogues:

Your system is infected with a rogue antivirus program. It is called "rogue"
because it pretends to be A Good Guy but is really Evil. Do not pay them!

Look for removal steps here Bleeping Computer removal how-to's -
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum55.html
or here - Malwarebytes malware removal guides - http://tinyurl.com/5xrpft

Malwarebytes' Anti-malware (MBAM) or SuperAntiSpyware will often do the job.
Both have free versions and you do not need to purchase these programs.

These may work for you and all may be well. However, in many cases the
computer will also be infected with Zlob and/or Vundo trojans and protected
by a rootkit. These machines are extremely difficult to clean.

If your machine is one of these cases, either get guided help at one of the
specialty forums below OR back up your data and do a clean install of
Windows. It is your choice. If you are unsure how to back up your data or
how to do a clean install, you can take your machine to a local computer
professional. I don't recommend using BigComputerStore/GeekSquad types of
places.

no. Malwarebytes won't launch. Says "Not have permission." also can
not rename it, for same reason.

same for Superantispyware.

thanx

yes, I understand 'rogue SW'. but the killer here is that MB is
blocked - "You do not have permission." also Rename is blocked. smae
for SAS...

so I am really in crisis mode. this is the worst one I have had to fight.

Then post on one of the specialty forums I already gave you.

Otherwise grab any data you need by using a Live Live CD (Knoppix, Ubuntu)
or a Bart's PE and an external hard drive and flatten the system. Sometimes a
clean install is the only answer.
