Lost programs

Hi group.

I seem to have lost some programs. It's all rather baffling as this has
never happened to me before.

I installed all the software that came with my shiny new (well it was when I
bought it!) JVC Everio hard drive camcorder.
No problems there as it all worked fine.
The only thing was that I didn't really like using it.
I found d/l'ing my recordings through windows and using windows Movie Maker
to be a lot less bothersome and easier than the JVC stuff.
I've been doing that for a while now so I thought I'd uninstall all the JVC
stuff.
Went to do this and I just can't uninstall it.

There's two ways to do this.
The first way I tried was to go into my start menu, where you can hover over
the program which brings up a box with different options to do with the
program, like run it, read the help stuff and all the other things you can
do.
At the bottom of this is the 'uninstall this program option. (I've used this
method to uninstall lots of other programs in the past with no bother at
all).
I clicked on the uninstall option and the installshield wizard box came up
as usual.
Now normally after that the uninstalling stuff comes up, I follow the
instructions on it and the program is uninstalled.
This time, and with all the JVC stuff, the installshield wizard box comes up
and then nothing, nothing at all.

The next thing I do if I can't uninstall something from the start menu (and
up to now that's only because the option to uninstall isn't there) is to use
the start/control panel/programs and features/uninstall program method.
Clicked on that only to find that none of the JVC stuff is in there.
Everything else is, just as it should be, but the camcorder stuff is nowhere
to be seen.

Does anybody know what's going on here that will help me find the programs
so I can uninstall them? Is there any other way to uninstall programs if
these two ways don't work?

The programs work fine if I want to use them.
I go into the stat menu, click on them there and up they come, working fine
even though they're not anywhere in the programs and features page.

I don't know if this is important but the programs are....

Cyberlink PCM4everio Power Cinema NE for Everio

Cyberlink Power2go

Cyberlink PowerDirector

Cyberlink PowerProducer

All these came from the software CD that was bundled with the camcorder.

Anybody know what's going on here and how I can uninstall these pesky little
programs??

I'd appreciate any help that may be out there.

Have you tried contacting JVC technical support? They may have helpful
suggestions.

https://support.jvc.com/consumer/sup...t.jsp?pageID=5

If that doesn't yield useful results, the software publisher may be able to
help:

In addition to the suggestions from PvdG42, you could first try
reinstalling all of the JVC stuff from the original CD and then
uninstalling it - but start with the control panel uninstall, I'd say. That
is my superstition, at least :-)

Anyway, reinstalling can clear up the currently messed up situation so that
uninstall can work properly.

One other thing to try (after reinstalling!) is to download the free Revo
Uninstaller and use it to uninstall. It's basically a shell on top of the
standard uninstallation software.

There are also programs (some are free) that track an installation and then
use that info to uninstall very robustly. You'd have to have one of them
running while you install. I don't have any info on the names, but Google
could help, I think.

Luckily I didn't have to use these as I tried Gene E. Bloch's suggestion
first, which worked a treat.

But thank you very much for going to the trouble of replying and trying to
help. It was really good of you and I appreciate you doing that for me.

Thanx anyway :-)

That worked a treat!! Reinstalled it all and then uninstalled it through
the control panel just like you said. It's all gone now and thankfully
sorted. And the best thing is... I don't have to type the word
'uninstalled' no more. Boy was I getting fed up with that lol.

Thanks Gene. Thank you very much indeed. :-)
