I had a good SP1 Windows XP Pro working. I made the mistake of installing
SP2. Got a "Monitor out of range" message and could not do a safe mode boot.
Reinstalled Windows and now I cannot use RESTORE, I cannot install SP1 from
CD or Windows update site. Two questions: 1> What can I do to get "restore"
back? and 2) Is there a way to enter Safe Mode from the Run command in
Windows or a Command prompt?

One of the many probs I have encountered also. If I remember correctly when
attempting to install SP2, it stated that the Restore Option would no longer
function. As to recovering/removing SP2, I think the only option is to
format your drive and then re-lay down your original. I realize this is not
a pretty thought, though I am not finding much help. Microsoft is not
forthcoming with much help on the issues they have created with this release.
