Lost Sound WinME, After Update

Using WinMe Ver. 4.90.3000, Speakers are Boston Digital BA735, Have HP PSC
1400 All-In-One.
When I start my pc, there is no sound. A check of Advanced Sound Controls
show that my speakers are not selected. When I select the speakers there is
sound. This happens everytime the pc is shut off.
Started having this problem after Updates KB912812 and KB 887799 (Cum UPD
for OE6). Having problems with these anyway. Four downloads each so far.
Have uinstalled KB912812 and tried a restore for time before these updates ,
but that didn't help.
Any ideas as to why speakers are being lost.

Found a solution. Unistalled and reinstalled my sound card. It is an
Integrated AC-Link 3D Game sound card on MSI Motherboard Celerion - 733MHz in
a Gateway Essential 733C.
